Clean and expressive
Obadiah is a modern coffee roastery, rooted in Edinburgh since 2017. The founding years were guided by a curiosity to explore the breadth of character in coffees. This ultimately led to realising and adopting a novel approach to coffee in Scotland.
Every coffee holds a story, shaped by landscape, climate, and the hands that cultivate it. We endeavour to honour the essence of its origin by roasting with a gentle touch, sharing coffees with clarity and care.

How we source
We foster lasting relationships with both renowned and emerging producers across traditional and emerging coffee-growing regions, each sharing a deep respect for their land and the quality of their cherry.
Alongside this, we’ve built partnerships with green suppliers who specialise in distinct regions and share our commitment to curiosity and transparency.
On the cupping table in our dedicated QC room, we look for flavour-led coffees with clarity, depth, and a layered complexity.

Roasting approach
Our roasting approach is shaped by the unique qualities of each lot, carefully adjusting our roasting parameters to highlight its natural character.
While some coffees naturally shine as filter or espresso, each is roasted with versatility in mind, ensuring balance and clarity across brewing methods.

A mindful act
Brewing our coffees at home is an invitation to slow down, to savour, and to reflect.
Each cup becomes a considered pause in the day, offering the chance to trace the distinct character of its origin and the craft behind it.

Resting our coffees
For our coffees to be best enjoyed, we recommend a generous resting period after roast, to allow trapped CO2 to release, and the full spectrum of flavours to be revealed.
We encourage resting our coffees in its sealed bag for a minimum of 21 days, and we have found interesting results far beyond.
