Hiring: Head of Sales & Customer Relations

Location: Based in Edinburgh or London.

As we look to expand and grow our partnerships, we are looking for a dynamic, results-driven Head of Sales & Customer Relations to join our team. It’s important that candidates fit the criteria outlined below, and share the values we talk about above.

About the Role

The Head of Sales & Customer Relations will be responsible for leading and managing our small sales team, developing and implementing effective sales strategies, and expanding our market presence – both domestically and internationally. This role requires a strategic thinker with an understanding of the coffee industry, with an eagerness to develop this further.

You must be able to represent Obadiah’s values for fostering genuine relationships and share our desire for showcasing coffee’s unique, delicate, innate characteristics. You should have great leadership skills, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets. The role requires a great relationship builder who possesses the skills to excel in this area.

Candidates can be based in Edinburgh or London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve Obadiah’s sales goals.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the small sales team to ensure individual and team performance targets are met.
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to expand wider.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and partners.
  • Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
  • Work with the Director to oversee the development of sales materials, presentations, and proposals.
  • Collaborate with the Director and marketing team to create effective promotional campaigns and sales initiatives.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics and provide regular reports to the company Directors.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and innovations to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Ensure compliance with all sales policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Attend networking events and festivals to generate new business and enhance Obadiah’s reputation.
  • Organise and host collaborative tasting events/presentations with customers.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to visit customers and develop relationships.


  • A degree in business, marketing, or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience in sales leadership roles, preferably within the coffee or food and beverage industry.
  • A keen interest in specialty coffee, brewing coffee and an understanding of specialty coffee industry is required.
  • A proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse data and market trends.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM software is desirable.
