One of Myanmar’s few certified Q Arabica Graders

Green Land Estate lies between Pyin Oo Lwin and Mogok, in Thatkan Village near the border of Mandalay Division and Northern Shan State.

Established in 1998, the farm grows arabica under silver oak and macadamia shade, with careful attention given to spacing, irrigation and soil health.

The estate is led by U Sai Wan Maing, who first noticed coffee farms as a child travelling from Yangon to visit family in the north.

After studying Geology and working in his family’s businesses, he chose to dedicate himself to coffee. Today, he is one of Myanmar’s few certified Q Arabica Graders and a key figure in the country’s growing specialty sector.

The Producer

Green Land has been recognised in national quality competitions and was named an Outstanding Coffee Grower by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 2003.

Ripe cherries are selectively harvested, sorted, and dried slowly on raised beds, with each day’s lot kept separate to protect clarity and consistency.

In the cup, this natural lot shows layered fruit sweetness and delicate floral notes.

Once the cherries resemble raisins and the target parameters are met the coffee is hulled and sorted in the dry mill.
